The Local Councils’ Development Operational Guidelines Approved by the Cabinet of Sierra Leone
The Local Councils’ Development Operational Guidelines, which NTCI has supported in developing and revising in Sierra Leone, have been approved by the Cabinet and officially adopted as a formal document of the Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs (MLGCA)

 

Since 2010, NTCI has implemented technical cooperation projects aimed at strengthening the capacity of local government officials in community development: the Project for Capacity Development for Comprehensive District Development in the Northern Region of Sierra Leone and the Project for Capacity Development to Strengthen Local Resilience in Sierra Leone. Through these projects, we have provided continuous support for the formulation and revision of the Guidelines.

By implementing community development projects in accordance with the Guidelines and conducting systematic project monitoring, local councils are better positioned to enhance coordination with other development partners, improve transparency in project implementation, and build trust with local authorities and communities.

With this Cabinet approval, the Guidelines are now expected to be adopted and utilized nationwide, contributing to the delivery of more effective and inclusive community development projects for the benefit of local residents across Sierra Leone.
