Project Spotlight: Agricultural Support Initiatives in Ukraine
| NTC International Co., Ltd., in partnership with Nippon Koei Co., Ltd. and Koei Research & Consulting Inc., has been implementing the “Project on Promotion of Small-Scale Horticultural Agriculture: Enhancing Inclusiveness of Women Farmers” since August 2024.
In November 2024, two project team members were able to visit Kyiv and conduct field activities in Ukraine. Despite security-related constraints, they successfully held face-to-face discussions with Ukrainian counterparts and carried out field visits to observe horticultural farming practices.
| Subsequently, in January 2025, ten Ukrainian government officials were invited to Japan to participate in a training program. The training focused on horticultural agricultural education in Japan and aimed to support the development of a horticultural training program in Ukraine, with a particular focus on women farmers. To this end, participants visited agricultural educational institutions, production sites, and marketing and distribution facilities in the Tokyo metropolitan area to learn about Japanese approaches and best practices.
Going forward, the project will continue its activities toward the implementation of horticultural training programs in Ukraine. Through ongoing cooperation and capacity-building efforts, we will contribute to the promotion and development of Ukraine’s horticultural sector. |
