Organized the training program in Japan, towards local rice (Ivorian rice) promotion in Côte d'Ivoire

As a part of a “Local Rice Promotion Project in Côte d'Ivoire (PRORIL)” in cooperation between the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the government of Côte d'Ivoire, which NTCI has been implemented since 2014, five government officials from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MINADER) and the Rice Sector Development Agency (ADERIZ) came to Japan to learn about its systems and initiatives for the rice promotion from August 21 to September 2, 2019. NTCI, as Special Envoy for TICAD7 Public-Private Partnership, had meetings with the President of Guinea and the Second Vice President of Burundi

On August 29th 2019, NTCI had a meeting with H.E. Prof. Alpha Condé, the President of the Republic of Guinea, at TICAD7. President of NTCI, Mr. Mori, expressed his sincere gratitude to the President Condé for giving the opportunity to see His Excellency. Then, Mr. Nagai, ex-Technical Advisor on agricultural development dispatched from NTCI to the Ministry of Agriculture in Guinea, explained development potential of rice production using Japanese technologies. The President Condé expressed his expectation for further cooperation on agricultural sector including rice production.

On August 31st 2019, NTCI had another meeting with H.E. Dr. Joseph Butore, the Second Vice President of the Republic of Burundi, at TICAD7. President Mori conveyed his deep appreciation for giving the opportunity to see His Excellency. Then, Mr. Nagai explained aboutthe community development project in Gitega province Implemented by NTCI.

The Vice President Butore kindly gave us an outline of National Development Plan of Burundi 2018-2027, and expressed his expectation for future cooperation especially on agricultural development which is the first pillar of the Plan. President Mori stated that NTCI would like to share our knowledge and experience for the agricultural development in Burundi.

Project of One Village One Product (OVOP) in Argentina launched

“Project for Development of Inclusive Value Chains Oriented to the Market with OVOP Argentina Concept (Planning Phase)” has started, with Mr. Kotaro Mizoguchi, belonging to NTCI, as a team leader. A launch event was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Argentina on July 5, 2019, and the related post was uploaded onthe Facebook pageof the Japan International Cooperation Agency: JICA.

NTCI received a certificate of appreciation from the Japanese Association for Arid Land Studies

NTC International Co., Ltd. received a certificate of appreciation from the Japanese Association for Arid Land Studies in “the ceremony marking the 30th anniversary of the Japanese Association for Arid Land Studies” on May 25, 2019. The certificate of appreciation is for our achievement which contributed to the development of the association for a long time.

Presentation at the 16th Spring Conference of the Japan Evaluation Society.

Mr. Kuwahara made a presentation in the session of “Policy-Level ODA Evaluation” at the 16th Spring Conference of the Japan Evaluation Society.
The title of presentation is ‘Evaluation from Diplomatic Viewpoints of Third Party Evaluation by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan -A Case of “An Evaluation of Japan’s ODA to the Republic of Angola”- '.

NTCI : Business member of Nutrition-Japan Public-Private Platform (NJPPP)

NTCI has been elected as a member of the Nutrition-Japan Public-Private Platform (NJPPP) at the 10th steering committee meeting held on September 7, 2018. NJPPP is an initiative launched by the Government of Japan in 2016 to focus on improving nutrition in emerging and developing countries via public-private partnerships. As a member, NTCI aims to participate actively in the promotion of nutrition improvement projects in developing countries by encouraging participation and investments from the private sector.

Lecture presentation held by RICCI EVERYDAY Inc.

RICCI EVERY DAY Inc. is well known in Japan and overseas for their unique bags created from local textiles. The company was established with the aim of enhancing the livelihoods of Ugandan single mothers. Ms. Chizuru Nakamoto, president of the company, kindly shared her experience and knowledge as to how she made social contribution through business. Her energetic and voluntary effort is certainly an encouraging model example to be used for other countries and activities.

Received a prestigious award in 2018 from the Japanese Society of Irrigation, Drainage and Rural Engineering for playing a significant role in “International Contribution”

President Iwamoto was congratulated for the company’s big contribution to peacebuilding in conflict-affected countries and was awarded the trophy of “International Contribution” by the Japanese Society of Irrigation, Drainage and Rural Engineering for the year of 2018. The award announcement is scheduled to be released on the opening page of Water, Land and Environment Engineering journal (July issue). The event would also be posted on the Society’s website.

Received an Encouragement Award from the Japanese Society for Tropical Agriculture in March 2018

One of the staff members of the company won the Encouragement Award for her research carried out on “The Effects of Water-Saving Agriculture, Intercropping System for Increasing Food Production and Technology Development in the Nile Delta, Egypt”. Her thesis was presented with much success at the Japanese Society for Tropical Agriculture annual event.
