Organization of a Training Program in Japan for delegates from Cote d’Ivoire to encourage the production of local rice in Cote d’Ivoire

NTCI has been involved in the implementation of the “Local Rice Promotion Project in Côte d'Ivoire (PRORIL)” Project since 2014. Five officials from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MINADER) and the Rice Sector Development Agency (ADERIZ) were invited to Japan from August 21 to September 2 of 2019 to observe the Japanese methods and initiatives of promoting local rice. The PROFIL Project is financed by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) within the framework of Japan-Cote D’Ivoire ODA Bilateral Cooperation. Special audience with the President of Guinea and the second Vice-President of Burundi as appointed envoy representing the Public-Private Partnership Program at TICAD VII

 

On August 29 of 2019, Mr Mori, President of NTCI was granted an audience with H.E. Professor Alpha Condé, the President of the Republic of Guinea at the TICAD VII Conference held in Japan and expressed his sincere gratitude for the special occasion. Mr Nagai, formerly appointed as Technical Advisor to the Ministry of Agriculture in Guinea was also given the opportunity to explain the merits of using Japanese technology to promote rice production in Guinea. In return, President Condé expressed his enthusiasm to see further cooperation from Japan in the agricultural sector including rice farming.

On August 31 of 2019, Mr Mori was also granted a special audience with H.E. Dr. Joseph Butore, the second Vice President of the Republic of Burundi at the TICAD VII Conference. Likewise, Mr Nagai was given the occasion to evoke NTCI’s involvement in the Community Development Project in Gitega Province in 2011 and the positive impact on the country. Recalling that agriculture is the vital element in the national development of his country, Mr Butore hopes to see continuous support from Japan in the sector.

Launching of One-Village-One-Product (OVOP) Project in Argentina

The OVOP Movement was a successful economic strategy used in Japan to promote regional development in the seventies. The OVOP concept has also proven its success in the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, Colombia, Peru, Brazil and Ecuador etc. NTCI has been appointed by JICA to oversee the implementation of this approach in Argentina. The Project was launched on July 5 of 2019 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Argentina and NTCI was represented by the Project Manager, Mr Kotaro Mizoguchi. NTCI received a certificate of appreciation from the Japanese Association for Arid Land Studies

NTC International Co., Ltd. received a certificate of appreciation from the Japanese Association for Arid Land Studies in “the ceremony marking the 30th anniversary of the Japanese Association for Arid Land Studies” on May 25, 2019. The certificate of appreciation is for our achievement which contributed to the development of the association for a long time.

Presentation at the 16th Spring Conference of the Japan Evaluation Society.

Mr. Kuwahara made a presentation in the session of “Policy-Level ODA Evaluation” at the 16th Spring Conference of the Japan Evaluation Society.
The title of presentation is ‘Evaluation from Diplomatic Viewpoints of Third Party Evaluation by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan -A Case of “An Evaluation of Japan’s ODA to the Republic of Angola”- '.

Professional Gender Equity Promotion

The highest level of ERUBOSHI Certification was awarded to NTCI by the Tokyo Labor Bureau on February 12 of 2019 for its efforts to promote women’s role and providing equal career advancement opportunities within the company. This certification is based on the criteria stipulated by the Act of the Promotion of Women’s Participation and Advancement at the Workplace.the Act on Promotion of Women's Participation and Advancement in the Workplace.

Ground-Breaking Ceremony: Project for Rehabilitation of Irrigation Facilities in Rwamagana District in Rwanda

This Project, financed by the Government of Japan includes the rehabilitation of two reservoirs and the construction of canals in addition to a new reservoir. NTCI has been appointed by JICA to oversee the implementation of this Project. The ground-breaking ceremony on February 7, 2019 was graced with the presence of the Ambassador of Japan to Rwanda, Senior Representative of JICA Rwanda, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources, the Governor of Eastern Province and more than 600 invitees comprising representatives from concerned institution and local farmers.

NTCI : Business member of Nutrition-Japan Public-Private Platform (NJPPP)

NTCI has been elected as a member of the Nutrition-Japan Public-Private Platform (NJPPP) at the 10th steering committee meeting held on September 7, 2018. NJPPP is an initiative launched by the Government of Japan in 2016 to focus on improving nutrition in emerging and developing countries via public-private partnerships. As a member, NTCI aims to participate actively in the promotion of nutrition improvement projects in developing countries by encouraging participation and investments from the private sector.

Lecture presentation held by RICCI EVERYDAY Inc.

RICCI EVERY DAY Inc. is well known in Japan and overseas for their unique bags created from local textiles. The company was established with the aim of enhancing the livelihoods of Ugandan single mothers. Ms. Chizuru Nakamoto, president of the company, kindly shared her experience and knowledge as to how she made social contribution through business. Her energetic and voluntary effort is certainly an encouraging model example to be used for other countries and activities.

Received a prestigious award in 2018 from the Japanese Society of Irrigation, Drainage and Rural Engineering for playing a significant role in “International Contribution”

President Iwamoto was congratulated for the company’s big contribution to peacebuilding in conflict-affected countries and was awarded the trophy of “International Contribution” by the Japanese Society of Irrigation, Drainage and Rural Engineering for the year of 2018. The award announcement is scheduled to be released on the opening page of Water, Land and Environment Engineering journal (July issue). The event would also be posted on the Society’s website.

Received an Encouragement Award from the Japanese Society for Tropical Agriculture in March 2018

One of the staff members of the company won the Encouragement Award for her research carried out on “The Effects of Water-Saving Agriculture, Intercropping System for Increasing Food Production and Technology Development in the Nile Delta, Egypt”. Her thesis was presented with much success at the Japanese Society for Tropical Agriculture annual event.
